Thanks

We have a bounty of thanks in the Jakes household this year.

We're thankful that Greysen eats solid foods like turkey on Thanksgiving (and I don't have to nurse as much - YAY!).

And for friends and family ...

And his newest friend Amelia Ann Moog ...
And for hikes in the snow ... Greysen loves the backpack and getting snow on his face. He likes to stick out his tongue so the flakes fall in his mouth.

And for moving around ... even though it's backwards.
And for our happy, healthy family.

Happy Thanksgiving. Love, The Jakes'

Smarty Pants!

Greysen update - there are a lot of things to update!!

Greysen can:

1. Say 'hi.' Literally says it when you walk into the room. Could be his first word?

2. Wave buh-bye when you walk out of the room.

3. Say Mamamamamamaaaa when I walk into the room. Could be his first word?

4. Clap and maybe sign for "more" when we aren't feeding him quickly enough. The two actions are quite similar so they could be interchangealble.

5. Scoot backward to get to a toy - but the toy is in front of him. Even got himself stuck under the couch. Cute thing...

5. NOT get any cuter - especially in his all plaid outfit (thanks to Bennett).

Ch - Ch - Changes

Greysen has gone through some changes of late ....

We moved into a new house on Oct. 29 (and that's why you haven't heard from me). Luckily, it proved to be somewhat painless because of the help we received from friends, Oma, Opa and Cassie. Amy P, Eric M, and Chris H did some packing and heavy lifting, Oma and Opa literally moved all the boxes and unpacked the whole kitchen, and Cassie took G so we could do this all without stepping over the little guy. Thanks to everyone who helped and offered to help. Now we have to unpack the rest of the boxes...

So not only does G have a new house, he has a new room. The surroundings for him are quite different but he's adjusted well and just when he began to sleep through the night, we shook it up again ... We flew to MN to visit Aunt Jessie and Uncle Dave.

And Aunt Jessie is as cute as can be with that little belly of hers (which holds another little guy that Greysen can't WAIT to meet).

And the time change has thrown him off a bit too. And the late flight into Helena last night. And the sudden change of seasons to frigid.
All of this, and G is still the smiling happy baby we love.

Okaaaaay, you can get up ...

On Sunday afternoon, I was sitting on the couch listening to Sweet Baby Grey talk his way out of his afternoon nap. He knows I'm a sucker for his happy coos and noises. I think he's on to me ... he knows that I'll let him out of his nap if he keeps it up for any length of time. I let him go for a good 20 minutes and then I decided I would go get him. This is what I found ...

Happy Seven Months SBG!

Greysen is SEVEN MONTHS today. Happy Birthday Sweet Baby Grey! G is doing so many new things that I hardly think I can remember them all. What hasn't changed is what a joy he is. He's a smiley, happy baby, holding hands (that's the song we sing to the tune of REM's Shiney Happy People).
He sits up on his own! (Don't worry, he was being supervised.)

He uses the pincer to pick up finger foods! Pincer is a development milestone using the thumb and forefinger to pick up small objects (like food). Usually babies that are between 9 and 12 months reach this milestone. Crazy genius 7 month baby. I figure he's motivated by food, like his Mama. Here he's eating plums. He loves plums.

He DANCES! He rocks back and forth with a smile on his face when music begins. Even when Papa does the beat box, he does the rockabilly to the beat. I wish I could post my video but alas, it's too long to download and too cute to cut. So, you'll have to see this in person.
He breaks free from his swaddle every time now. I still swaddle him because it's a way to ensure his warmth now that it's getting colder. But we might have to give it up altogether if I start to find the blanket over his face. He loves to put the blanket over his face.

He loves Cassie Care at the new location. They have play time outside almost every day. They get out in the stroller about town with Cassie. And they get to eat leaves.

I can't wait for the next month to see what else he'll try. We hope to report that the newest trick is to sleep through the night - he's almost there but might need a little training. Wish us luck.

Good Buddies

Greysen and Bennett are good buddies. They even look alike and wear each others' clothes. Bennett is wearing Greysen's jacket and Greysen is wearing Bennett's pants and jacket.
When Greysen protests tummy time because Cassie places toys just out of his reach so he might figure out how to get them himself, Bennett brings the toys and pats his head like he's saying, "Don't worry little buddy, I've got your back."
Cutie patooties!

Sweet Baby AAM!

Amelia Ann Moog was born this morning to her amazing Mama Kim at 2:50 a.m. I got a text at 3:04 a.m. announcing her arrival. YES, that is just 14 mins after she gave birth. Did I say amazing? Amelia is adorable and sweet and already loved by the whole town over. Welcome Sweet Baby A.
